When I searched the Lab Rescue websites in 2011, I was so totally overwhelmed by the number of beautiful Labs seeking a home I gave up. How could I possibly pick just one?
The next morning an email arrived with Butterscotch’s face and the plaintive message “Maybe you’ll choose me.” She was special. Her sweet face and soft floppy ears so moved me I jumped into the car for the 70 mile trip to the kennel. There, Butterscotch, mother of eight, with every rib showing, who had been kicked, whipped, scarred and holding a deformed right paw due to an untreated broken leg, leapt onto my lap and showered me with kisses. It was love at first sight after her years of pain. Now with her coat beautiful and glossy, she greets all our store visitors with love, sweetness, and generosity.
